About Me

I became a Caregiver at the age of 18.......

My name is Bethany and I have been in the medical field for over 17 years. I started off working in facilities: Nursing homes, assisted living, and hospitals.  In 2004 I left  nursing school to complete a degree in Massage Therapy.  Then, I had a family member who needed me, they needed full-time care. There was no one else. It was me or a nursing home. My loved one was 45 years old at the time and having worked in facilities I knew this wasn't appropriate.

I still wanted to practice massage therapy and hang on to that piece of my identity. Can you relate?

I had home care services in place for the hours that I would work however, it just wasn't good enough. No matter the agency, the staff would be late or they wouldn't come at all or even worse things that I won't talk about here............
I would come home from work and nothing would be done and my loved one would be sitting there so sad that it would make your heart heavy with an expression on their face like "that was waste of a day."
It was depressing for both of us and I felt torn. I also knew I could do better so I got hired by one of the local agencies so I could get paid to provide care, and the best care possible. Really trying hard to implement quality of life activities, be positive and have fun!

It didn't happen perfectly this way every day because we are both human with real emotions and
sometimes this caregiving journey can be, real emotional. The intention was always there though.

Although I was blessed to get paid to provide care it was still a loss in income and I was providing all the care 24/7.
So for 2 years, when my loved one was sleeping I would work on my business plan and work through all the licensing with the State to open my own home care agency.  I knew the system could be better then what we had experienced and I wanted that for other families in our area.
In 2011 it all came together!  We are a small agency who are client focused, caring for our elderly and disabled community members and strongly advocate for aging safely at home.

I find in home care setting just as I did in the professional setting 2 common denominators:
1.Caregiver Burnout
2. Lack of Education on Natural Healing modalities that can really make a WORLD of difference.

As  a family caregiver myself , having  practicing in the clinical setting, and having experienced  all the different health challenges & diagnoses combined with family dynamics/troubles as I have worked with close to 100 families through my agency gives me Perspective and Knowledge on how to approach Caregiving as a Whole.

My goal is to provide solutions for caregivers and their loved ones.
Be it a spouse, a parent, a brother/ sister, a friend or a professional relationship I aim to make this easier for all humans concerned, find common ground & effective solutions. Let’s celebrate this caregiving journey & Support you!!
